During the exam, it is important to manage your time properly. In order to do this, it is useful to enter the exam with an idea of what order you are going to do it in.

- Look at the theme for the paper. Write it in the first page of the answer book.
- Read the list of essays. Try to narrow it down to one or two choices.
- Read the three QBs following each text. Pick the genre that suits you best.
- Now, proceed to the QA section and the texts. All QAs are deemed to be of similar difficulty, therefore simply opt for one and stick with it. Remember that students tend to struggle more with the visual texts.
- In answering your QA:
- Read the gloss first
- Read and re-read the questions
- Read the text
- Spend no more than 1 hour on QA - Spend 30-35 minutes on QB. Pay close attention to:
- Format
- Genre
- Purpose
- Audience
- Register - Plan your essay (5 minutes) in your answer book before writing.
